What is the difference between an Optometrist and an Optician?
Optometrist is the newer name for Ophthalmic Optician. An optometrist can test sight, examine eyes, fit and supply spectacles and contact lenses and advise on a wide range of eye care issues.
A Dispensing Optician is a qualified specialist in all aspects of spectacle frames and lenses, not to be confused with dispensing assistants or sales staff, who are not qualified.
