To that end, locally we use D J Newson in Norwich, a long established family firm and highly experienced. We also extensively use Carl Zeiss Vision, and have an internet link to their factory in Germany, so lenses can be ordered instantly. We use a computerised tracing machine (Nidek) which scans frames to allow lenses to be supplied cut for assembly here.
But before we get to that point, we need to take your exact measurements, particularly important for progressive lenses; and to get these measurements, we use a state-of-the-art Relaxed Vision Terminal by Zeiss. This instrument works by taking a high definition picture of the customer wearing the chosen frame and creates a measuring template accurate to a tenth of a millimeter.
We also have a Reflex Pupilometer that accurately measures the distance between the customer's eyes, instead of using a ruler.
